STAMP LAUNCH
PICC has organised an Official Stamp Launch event in memory of Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam entitled “Commemoration: Remembering and Honouring Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (Scientist, Humanitarian, Luminary and Visionary)” on 1st November 2015 at Ipoh Town Hall, Perak, Malaysia. Undeniably, it is a great honour to be the first country in the world to release a stamp of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam in recognition of his humanitarian efforts towards science and human development.
The Official Stamp Launch event was officiated by Y.A.B. Dato’ Seri Diraja Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir (Chief Minister of Perak) and witnessed by His Excellency T.S. Tirumurti (High Commissioner of India to Malaysia), Mr. V. Ponraj (Scientist & Advisor Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam) and Y. Bhg. Professor Emeritus Dato’ Dr. V.G. Kumar Das and Mr. K Seven Munusamy (President of PICC). About 1,200 people comprising of academicians, professionals, businessmen, NGO leaders, teachers, youths & students participated in the event.
During the event a Memorandum of Understanding between “PICC” and “Abdul Kalam Vision India Movement” was signed to establish the “Dr. Abdul Kalam Human Capital Development Initiative”. The two organisations agreed to work together to empower the students and youths of Malaysia in Self-Development, Skills Development, Sustainable Development and Creative Leadership Development. The first workshop was conducted in 2016 with the theme “Leadership, Patriotism & Entrepreneurship”.
