Perak Indian Chamber of Commerce (PICC)
Established in 1937, PICC is a non-profit business chamber with the prime objective of promoting, protecting and advancing the business interests of the Malaysian Indian Business Community in Perak. Over the years, PICC undertook various efforts to reinvent itself to be recognized as the voice for Perak Indian businesses.
While championing the interests of its members, PICC also initiated and successfully purchased its own building, WISMA PICC, to emphasize its presence and identity in Little India Ipoh, Perak. Currently, a full-fledged Secretariat and Business Centre is functioning to help and assist Indian businesses in Perak.
Suffice it would to state that PICC is unique in its vision and mission as evidenced by its diverse activities and programs that are aimed not only to develop successful entrepreneurs but also find ways to uplift the socio-economic status of the Indian community. In addition to conducting short training courses in entrepreneurship, human capital development programs targeted at youths and students have also been promoted to inspire patriotism, leadership and entrepreneurship.
We believe that communities with higher socio-economic status has a higher percentage of entrepreneurs.
Towards this end, PICC has also continuously promoted the idea of “One Family, One Entrepreneur”. PICC has been able to carry out its activities primarily through sponsorship and financial support by public, private and concerned individuals.
The momentum set by the Chamber in promoting both entrepreneurship and human capital development will augur well towards establishing the Indian Business Community as an economic powerhouse in the State and also indicate the diversified role of the Chamber within the nation.
